March is when Morocco wakes up — the valleys turn green, the desert nights finally lose their bite, and the whole country feels like it is exhaling into spring. It is one of the best all-round months to come: warm enough to be comfortable, cool enough to walk all day, and not yet crowded. If someone asked me for one low-risk month, I would say March or October.

What is on
The desert is in perfect shape and the valleys are at their greenest. The Marathon des Sables — the famously brutal multi-day race across the southern Sahara — usually runs in late March or early April, so the Erfoud and Merzouga area sees a wave of runners and support crews. Nothing that will crowd your trip, but you may share a guesthouse with someone about to run 250 km on purpose.
Crowds and prices
Rising but reasonable. March sits in the shoulder — more travellers than February, still well short of the April–May peak. Book desert camps and popular riads a couple of weeks ahead and you will have no trouble; prices are fair rather than high.
Who March suits
Almost everyone — first-timers, desert travellers, valley walkers, photographers. The only people who should look elsewhere are dedicated beach-swimmers (the Atlantic is still cool) and high-altitude trekkers waiting on the snow to clear the summits.

Is March a good time to visit Morocco?
One of the best. Spring warmth, green valleys, ideal desert conditions and manageable crowds — March is a low-risk month whether you are after cities, the Sahara or both.
Is the desert still cold at night in March?
Much gentler — around 10°C at Merzouga rather than freezing. A light jacket handles the evening; you no longer need full winter kit.
Can you trek the High Atlas in March?
Lower valley walks, yes — they are green and beautiful. The high summits (Toubkal and above) are still a winter-mountaineering proposition until the snow clears later in spring.
