The Gnaoua World Music Festival in Essaouira, usually the third weekend of June, is one of the great free festivals anywhere — four days of Gnaoua masters trading stages with jazz and world musicians, spilling through the ramparts of the old town. If you build a June trip around one thing, build it around this.
Crowds and prices
Mixed. Inland cities quieten as the heat rises and prices soften there; the coast, meanwhile, fills with Moroccans and Europeans escaping the same heat, so Essaouira and Agadir get busy and pricier — book the Gnaoua weekend far ahead.
Who June suits
Trekkers, surfers and coast lovers, and music fans. Not the month for a desert-first trip or for spending long days sightseeing in Marrakech or Fes — for those, aim at the shoulder seasons instead.

You can, but I would not — Merzouga pushes past 40°C and many good camps scale back. Save the desert for autumn and give June to the mountains and the coast.
