Follow the Caravan is my travel journal. I write about the old trade routes — the roads that caravans, pilgrims and traders wore into the map long before airlines drew their own — and what it is like to travel them today, slowly and on a real budget.
The journal starts in Morocco, on the routes I know best: the souks of Marrakech, the passes of the High Atlas, the Draa Valley and the dunes beyond it. From there, the caravan moves outward — Jordan, Uzbekistan, Turkey — one route at a time, written up only after I have actually travelled it.
How I travel
Overland first: buses, trains and shared taxis before flights. Local guesthouses before chains. Long stays before checklists. I keep every receipt so the guides can quote real numbers, and when something famous is not worth your time, I say so. No sponsorships, no affiliate detours — if that ever changes, it will say so on the page.
What I stand by
Slow
Fewer places, longer stays. I would rather know one valley well than photograph five from a bus window.
Honest
Real prices, real timings, and the failures kept in. If a famous stop is skippable, the guide says so.
Curious
The places between the famous ones are the point. Market towns, junction cities, the teahouse at the pass.
